RPM 2010 Inland Outrigger Success.
The best conditions since there was actually a current in the early nineties greeted this years competitors at the Riverland Paddling Marathon. No wind, no rain. As usual, no current.
The Inlanders U18 mixed OC1 relay crew went faster than the old mens record.
Tony Bond established a Vet55 record that will take some beating.
In the sixes Inlanders overcame strong opposition from Adelaide and the combined KiaOpua/Melbourne/Geelong team. Lots of interest and great racing. They sprinted (20km’s) to a loch each day where the times were taken, then everyone went through the loch together and the race was restarted with the times adjusted at the end of the day. This is the first big win for the club in open class racing with six person canoes. The team included juniors aged 14 years to Bill Dunn who turns 70 next month.
John Proctor represented the Echuca Moama canoe club in the K1 Mens U18 Division, it was a family affair with his mother Sue and little sister Lucy paddling with the outrigger team.
