Training Day 6th September, 2009

INLAND OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB TRAINING RUN.

On Sunday 6th September, 2009 the club will be running a training day and will be paddling from Barmah to Echuca.

This training day is tailored to give new paddlers an introduction to the course for the Echuca Mini marathon and the YMCA Murray Marathon. It will also cater for the experienced paddler who has their own outrigger canoe.

We will use one six person outrigger canoe for this paddle. I would hope as many people as possible will attend. Everyone who has a single or double outrigger canoe is encouraged to bring it. There will be paddlers who do the full distance in a combination of six person, 0C1 and 0C2 and others who do one leg in the six.

Please be at the canoe club at 8.30am where we will pile into as few cars as possible and drive to Barmah, put the canoe together and paddle down to Echuca. We will change at check points on the Vic side that will be used in this years marathon.

We will be off the water by 2pm.

Mark it in your diary now as this type of training is crucial to your preparation and confidence in your ability to paddle at Christmas.

Secretary Inland Outrigger Canoe Club

PS, a big congratulations to Tony in the US. He won the USCA 500m 50+ sprint C1 and C2 titles last week. Awesome!
